Welcome...

About this research
This research started with listing everyone with the surnames of Phillips, Riggs, or Eubanks in the 1790-1920 census. I did this for Jones, Onslow, and Craven counties and listed the results in a gedcom file using Generation Grand Suite 6.0 software. Second area of research has involved work in the North Carolina Archives in Raleigh, North Carolina. This website also includes the contributions of people that I have met over the Internet.

I have also done research in Camden, Pasquotank, and Perquimans counties as well as some work in Georgia. All of the information and scanned images on this website are free for noncommerical purposes. If you have any additions or corrections to this website please contact me

Phillips family of Onslow County, NC
The Phillips family can be traced back to three brothers, Allen, Aaron, and Brice Phillips. Census information can show their decendents after 1850 but their parents at the present time are unknown. Allen first appears in 1830 and it looks like his brothers might have been staying with him. There is a William Phillips who appears in 1810 and 1820 in Swansboro who is probably the father of these three men. There is also a second William Phillips in Onslow whose ancestry is known and can be ruled out. The 1880 census says that Allens parents were born in NC.

Riggs family of Onslow County, NC
The Riggs family can be traced back to John Riggs Sr. who came from Pasquotank County, NC. It appears Johns' father was Issac Riggs of Pasquotank. One line of Riggs in Onslow that I cannot figure out is Noah Riggs who is married to Margarett. I have listed him as a nephew of John Riggs Sr. because of his close relationship with the family over the years.

Eubanks family of Onslow and Jones Counties, NC
The Eubanks family is the hardest of the three families I have tried to research. Everyone appears to go back to Thomas Eubank Sr. of Jones County. I have included the research of others outside of NC and have concentrated on Jones, Onslow, and Craven counties. Many members of this family move out of NC and back and forth between Jones and Onslow counties. These movements and the fact that the Eubanks are name-challenged has created difficulty in determining the ancestry of this family. I believe both George and Daniel Eubank came to Onslow County from Jones County in the early 1800s. A complete understanding of George Eubank might clear up many issues. image
